Jermaine Clarke is a collage artist working across handmade and digital mediums to create visual worlds influenced by Afrofuturism, retro science fiction, fantasy comics, and hip-hop culture.

Jermaine's work explores the relationship between history, imagination, and future possibilities. Through the process of cutting, layering, sampling, and rebuilding images, I transform fragments of existing material into new narratives that center Black identity, creativity, and self-determined futures.

Jermaine's approach to collage is deeply connected to hip-hop production. Similar to the way a producer samples sounds to create new rhythms, I sample visual elements—photographs, vintage imagery, comic art, and found materials—to construct compositions that carry both memory and possibility. Each piece becomes a remix of the past, reshaped into a vision of what could be.

Influenced by the worlds of science fiction and fantasy, his works creates alternate realities where technology, culture, spirituality, and imagination coexist. These images are not escapes from reality, but reflections on it—exploring themes of transformation, resilience, identity, and the power of storytelling.

Alongside Jermaine's visual art practice, he is a Hip-Hop producer creating Hip-Hop beats, further exploring rhythm, layering, and composition through sound. Whether working with images or music, my creative process is rooted in the same principles: sampling, experimentation, and world-building.

Through collage and sound, I aim to create immersive experiences that celebrate Black imagination and expand the possibilities of how we see ourselves, our histories, and our futures.
